  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • 5 tbsp almond flour (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add water to form dough.
  2. Chill the dough for 30 minutes, then preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  3. Make the filling by cooking sliced apples with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and water until slightly softened.
  4. Roll out the dough and fill your pie dish with the apple mixture, topping it with almond flour and another layer of dough. Cut slits in the top crust.
  5. Brush with an egg wash and sprinkle brown sugar before baking for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.
