  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Cut chicken into thin strips and marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook marinated chicken strips for about 5–7 minutes on each side until cooked through and golden brown.
  4. Warm pita breads on the grill or in a dry skillet for approximately one minute on each side.
  5. Assemble your gyros by placing grilled chicken strips in each pita along with tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion.
  6. Fold the pita closed and serve immediately.
