  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef, garlic, and onion until the beef is browned (about 10 minutes).
  2. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes on low heat.
