  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk and water; add yeast and let it froth for five minutes.
  2. Incorporate softened butter, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla into the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and salt until combined into a soft dough.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).

  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly on top.
  7. Roll tightly from one end to form a log; slice into even pieces (12–15 rolls).
  8. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. While baking, prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese and butter until smooth; add powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  11. Frost warm rolls generously before serving.
