  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Candy eyeballs and/or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a metal or glass bowl, beat the egg whites at medium-low speed until frothy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time, mixing until fully dissolved.
  5. Increase speed to medium and beat until stiff peaks form (about 3 minutes).
  6. Gently fold in vanilla extract.
  7. Transfer meringue to a piping bag fitted with a 1/2” tip; pipe ghost shapes onto prepared sheets.
  8. Decorate with candy eyes and chocolate chips for mouths.
  9. Bake for one hour; turn off oven and let cool inside for 1-2 hours.
