  • 2 tablespoons butter (for frosting)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/8 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • dash of salt (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for drizzle)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk (for drizzle)
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar (for drizzle)
  • 1/2 tablespoon milk (for drizzle)
  • 1 tablespoon pure pumpkin puree (for drizzle)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (for drizzle)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (for drizzle)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles small peas.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together pumpkin, milk, and egg until smooth.
  5. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry mix until just combined; add chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead gently about five times.
  7. Shape into a half-inch thick circle and cut into eight triangles.
  8. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
