  • 45 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the brisket and rub it with smoked paprika, ground cumin, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Sauté sliced onions in a skillet until caramelized (15-20 minutes). Add minced garlic for another couple of minutes.
  3. Place caramelized onions in a slow cooker or Dutch oven; lay the brisket on top.
  4. Mix brown sugar, soy sauce, beef broth, and apple cider vinegar; pour over the brisket.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or bake at 300°F (150°C) for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Let the brisket rest for 20 minutes before shredding and mixing with the cooking liquid.
